THE RENOVATION PROCESS

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

Every Second Space renovation is completed within 2 to 3 weeks. We commit to a timeline before work begins and we stick to it. You’ll always know exactly when your bathroom will be finished before we start.

Do I need to organise any trades myself?

Not at all. We handle everything from start to finish. Design, demolition, plumbing, tiling, electrical, waterproofing, fixtures, and final finishes. You have one point of contact and one team responsible for the entire project.

Can I stay in my home during the renovation?

Yes. Most of our clients remain at home throughout the renovation. We take full property protection measures from day one, your floors, walls, and surrounding areas are covered and respected throughout the entire process. We work efficiently and keep disruption to a minimum.

What happens if something unexpected comes up during the build?

This is rare, but in the event that something genuinely unforeseen is discovered once work has begun, we will communicate with you immediately and clearly before anything changes. Our fixed pricing covers the full scope agreed at the start. We don’t spring costs on clients mid-project.

PRICING AND PACKAGES

What does fixed pricing actually mean?

It means the price we quote is the price you pay. Full stop. No hidden extras, no variations, no surprise invoices. Before a single tile is lifted, you’ll have a detailed, locked-in quote that covers everything included in your renovation.

What are my options and where do I start with pricing?

We offer three packages, Essential from $19,990, Signature from $24,990, and Custom from $29,990. Each package is designed to cover a complete bathroom renovation at different levels of finish and detail. Are there any costs I need to be aware of outside the package price?

All package prices exclude GST. Beyond that, your quote will clearly outline everything that is included so there are no grey areas. If you have specific requirements outside the standard package scope, we’ll discuss those upfront before any commitment is made.

DESIGN

What if I don't know what I want?

That’s completely fine, and honestly it’s more common than you’d think. Our designer Caroline works with every client to understand how you use your bathroom, what you’re drawn to aesthetically, and what would make your everyday routine better. You don’t need a Pinterest board or a clear vision. That’s her job.

Will the design feel personalised to my home?

Yes. We don’t do cookie-cutter bathrooms. Every design is considered in the context of your home, your lifestyle, and your brief. Whether you want something clean and minimal, warm and textured, or bold and contemporary, we’ll create something that feels like it belongs.

Do you handle the product and material selections?

Yes. Caroline guides you through every selection, from tiles and tapware to vanities and lighting. You’ll have input at every step, and we’ll make sure everything specified works together both aesthetically and practically.

PRACTICALITIES

Do I need council approval for a bathroom renovation?

In most cases, no. A standard bathroom renovation that doesn’t involve structural changes or moving walls typically does not require a council permit in Victoria. If your project does require any approvals, we’ll identify that early and guide you through what’s needed.
